Meet BJ Gallagher in the latest Career Woman, Inc. feature interview
July 7, 2010
There’s been a lot of talk over the years about the power of positive thinking and in the latest Career Woman feature interview, we chat with BJ Gallagher, who takes that notion to the next level with her message of the “Power of Positive DOING”. She believes “thinking isn’t enough – it’s the beginning” and teaches women around the United States how to move forward from “thinking” and into “doing” in order to realize their dreams.
BJ believes the steps are simpler than most would think. First, women need to “choose to think about what you DO want in your life, not what you don’t want. Then once you’re focused on what you want, start moving in that direction.” And the movement doesn’t need to be by leaps and bounds. It can be small, incremental baby steps forward, she advises. Her personal motto is, “inch by inch, it’s a cinch.”
In her interview BJ helps women learn how to overcome challenges to the corporate status quo, both as a woman and as an initiator of change as she explains her key steps, including:
- Start with yourself
- Start where you are
- Look around for kindred spirits and align yourself with them
- Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from what you can do
- Keep at it over the long haul
She is a former manager of training and development for the LA Times, who left the newspaper to share her positive messages to a broader audience of corporations, small businesses, professional conferences, and women’s groups. BJ has written award-winning books, blogs regularly for the Huffington Post, and delivers keynote speeches around the country – motivating and teaching with empathy, warmth, and humor. Read her feature interview to find out more about her positive message, ideas to tackle challenges, and how to live a life you love.

I love Gallagher’s message. It reminds me of a quote “Don’t let great get in the way of good.” Sometimes we get discouraged by large tasks that we want to complete. People often forget to start right where they are.”
