1st Runner Up, Miss Washington Teen USA 2013 (winner of Miss Academic Award and Miss Photogenic Award)
When I first competed in the Miss Washington Teen USA pageant, I did not even make the semi-finals. When I returned one year later, I placed as the First Runner-Up. I owe this vast improvement to my pageant coach, Lisa Quast. What I love about Lisa’s style of training is that she did not change me into a “cookie-cutter” pageant contestant. Rather, she targeted my best qualities and taught me how to refine and improve them for the benefit of my performance in pageants. Although I did not win the crown, I did not walk away from the experience empty-handed. Through my training with Lisa, I gained interview and public speaking skills. Most importantly, I gained self-confidence. I am absolutely thrilled to apply these skills as I work towards a career in broadcast journalism. Choosing Lisa Quast as my pageant coach is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Mrs. Washington United States, 2012
When I was referred to Lisa at the start of this adventure, I was unsure of how she would be able to assist me with my journey within the Mrs. United States pageant system. After our first conversation on the phone, all concerns were dashed aside as she expertly — and kindly — responded to my flurry of questions, e-mails, and phone calls following that initial call. Lisa is a pillar within the business community and has a plethora of knowledge to share. Coupling that with her pageant experience, the wisdom she bestowed upon me is capacious. Being completely new to the pageant world, I was inexperienced and needed her guidance and expertise. Under her tutelage, I have successfully graduated from Mrs. King County United States to Mrs. Washington United States and am off to nationals. With Lisa’s guiding hand and expansive knowledge, she has helped me to be successful in my goals thus far. From attire and choreography to interviewing skills and attitude, her input is insightful and encouraging. Throughout it all, she consistently touts: be yourself. Thank you, Lisa, for being by my side and on my team.

I am so thankful I had the opportunity to work with Lisa. Her friendly and supportive manner helped me feel very comfortable working with her. I cannot begin to count all of the practical ways she helped me prepare for my three-day state contest. One of the most helpful things was her insight on preparing for and answering impromptu questions. I also received great coaching to prepare for interviews, wardrobe, make-up, and making an entrance with poise and confidence. She even assigned homework and research assignments that I can honestly say made a big difference for me compared with other candidates. Most of all, her preparation helped me have fun with the whole process in a way the judges could see my enjoyment too. I highly recommend Lisa if you are preparing for a pageant, or if you just want to brush up on your professional appearance and interactions. I know the skills I learned from her will serve me my entire life.
